A girl on her first solo adventure ✈️

26th Nov: My First Solo Travel

Emotions were running high, but I managed to pack them all into my carry-on bag. And of course, who wouldn’t be excited for their first international flight experience? I'd never been on a flight longer than 2 hours, so this was a whole new world. I kept pinching myself, just to make sure this was real – and yes, it was! Chennai to Frankfurt, here we go.

The security check and immigration process were a breeze, and after a quick hour of waiting at the gate, I grabbed some water. Then came the best part—boarding the plane through the vestibule. It was huge, easily the largest and longest flight I’d ever been on. My mission? To find my seat. And, of course, there it was—my window seat. (All 7 flights on this trip had window seats, by the way—lucky me!) I could hardly contain my excitement for takeoff. I didn’t say it out loud, but there’s something undeniably magical about the moment the plane lifts off, no matter where you're headed.

10 hours of solo time, and I had a friendly co-passenger whose nationality I never figured out. The food was amazing, and there was a huge selection of movies in various languages. But guess what? I was most fascinated by the flight tracking system! I thought I’d just close my eyes for a second, but I ended up dozing off for a while, which totally messed with my time perception. GMT/IST – I might never get that straight.

Part 2:

It was surreal experiencing the cold, freezing temperature of my first-ever foreign winter. I had only half an hour for my connecting flight, which seemed impossible given the amount of process involved. But I didn’t let that stop me—I just kept walking towards the gate. Immigration was intense, as a matter of fact. 😂 Even though Frankfurt airport felt like an endless ocean, I managed to navigate it and made it to my next connecting flight!

ARRIVAL in Hamburg! Tejaswi had already made it to the airport, and now it was time for our meeting. I’ll never forget the hilarious moment when we both ended up going to different terminals to surprise each other. It created such a funny scene! 🤣 We eventually met and stepped out of the airport. Was this how I’d imagined a foreign country to be? What was it like? I'll answer that in the next blog.
